Alice de Swynnerton1
F, #11295, d. circa 1350
Marriage* | | 1st=Sir John de Gresley2 |
Death* | circa 1350 | 1 |
Note* | | Nat Taylor argues that there is not good evidence that Alice de Swinnerton was the daughter of Thomas. He believes it is more likely she is the sister of Thomas. Here is his argument: Maud Holand was married after 3 Nov 1332, when she received a grant from her ex-fiance, John de Mowbray. Thus Alice could not have been born before 1333. Alice died before 1352, when Sir John Gresley married Joan de Wasteneys. Sir Nicholas Gresley was old enough to fight in Aquitaine by Sep 1362. So Alice would have had to have given birth at age 13 or less. Not impossible, but unlikely. I (GEB) find his argument persuasive and thus the Holand ancestry is likely lost.4 |
