A Quilt for Sylvia

Description Details
My cat, Sylvia, enjoys helping out in the sewing process but was disheartened to find that she was not allowed to claim any quilt as her own napping place. I made this quilt especially for her, using flannel for softness and bright colors for fun. The fabric prints include whimsical cat faces and paw prints. A small cat from the fabric is appliqued in each corner. Sylvia sleeps on it everyday, right on the sewing table.
Quilting
The quilting was done as one continuous line--no stops and starts. This required some planning and lots of 90-degree turning of the quilt. The quilting is best seen from the back side. The binding is double-fold bias with mitered corners. I didn't have enough pink fabric for the the entire backing so I had to piece it with extra borders. This makes it difficult to match the piecing lines on the front with the piecing lines on the back. When faced with this choice, I follow the piecing on the front. Sylvie likes it just fine.
